Fun with microwave ovens**

**I take no responsibility if you decide to experiment for yourself.

Common sense strongly recommended.

Yes, this too, can be your microwave.

Here are some fun things to do with your spare microwave oven. And please, do use the spare one.

Obvious ideas:
- Marshmallows
Marshmallows will expand many times their original size when microwaved. On a budget? Just eat one, then microwave yourself.
- Tin foil
This is where your microwave will become less attractive. For better results, crumple up your foil so it has many jagged edges (more places for electrical arching). The picture on top of this page is a lucky shot using tin foil. VIDEO LINK

Not so obvious ideas:
- Grapes
Get a green (not purple!) grape, slice it in half. Put the flat side face up. Nuke it.
- An open flame
Take a small candle, a microwave safe glass container (like a Pyrex measuring cup). Light the candle and put the glass container over it. Start the microwave before the candle runs out of oxygen to burn.
-Charred toothpicks
- Light bulbs
We first tried this with a strand of small Holiday (or "Christmas") lights, with surprising success. The bulbs can be burnt out and still produce interesting results, as long as the glass is not broken and there is still gas inside to react. VIDEO LINK FLIPPIN' SWEET VIDEO LINK
- A hamster
Well...just look here
- Compact Discs
CD-Rs seemed to work better than all the AOL CDs we tried. But then again, when did AOL ever work well? Just put them in and start it. VIDEO LINK
